Civil Service Strollers are looking for a new club secretary. Keith Stewart our current secretary has decided the time has come for him to stand down but I am delighted to say he will still be helping out at the club in other ways, and will give the new secretary every support in fitting into the role.
As with all committee roles at the club, the secretary is a voluntary position. The secretary is the first point of contact with the SFA, the Scottish Lowland Football League and other associated organisations and will be the main user of the SFAs new Comet system. The secretary will be the contact for opposition and match officials regarding matches and responsible, assisted by the registration secretary, for the registration of players. The secretary is also responsible for ensuring the accuracy of minutes of club committee meetings and in maintaining the records required by the SFA for the clubs licence.
I have set out the formal side of the role but would hope that what attracts you is to be involved with a football club and all the moments of joy and heartbreak that the game brings to us. We don’t forget that as volunteers we choose to be at the club as the way to spend our spare time and so it is important that we all fully enjoy our association with the club.
If you are interested in the position of secretary, (or of being involved with the club in any other way) please drop me a note of interest and we can arrange to have a chat, or better still get in touch and come to one of our games. Our next games are at Christie Gillies Park and are this Saturday 2/11 at 3pm against Gretna and Tuesday evening 5/11 at 7.45 against Albion Rovers.
